designer vaginas questionnaire response 61 |
Is this the first time you're hearing of female genital cosmetic surgery?
No.

Would
you re-design your vagina? – why? |
Yes, if I was uncomfortable with the size of my labia minora. Apart from the cosmetic issue, which is what most commenters seem to be focused on, enlarged labia, whether normal or not, can cause significant physical discomfort while exercising and in certain clothes. For many women, this procedure is not about having a more attractive vulva, but rather being able to live their lives the way other women do, without pain and discomfort during day-to-day activities.

This conversation
makes me think... |

It's a shame that so many women feel the need to change aspects of their physical appearance to conform to an unrealistic ideal.
But it's also a shame that some women are being looked down upon for electing to have this surgery that is often a completely necessary one.
Imagine that you are a teenage girl who can only wear certain types of underwear, no pants or anything with a seam at the crotch. Imagine that you cannot run or exercise, that sitting for long periods is uncomfortable, and that any sexual arousal causes serious pain. Even if the appearance didn't bother you, wouldn't you want to change your life?
