gynecologist review response 01 |
how old are you, and for how long have you been seeing your gynecologist?
I'm 32 and I started seeing my gyn when I was 18, in college.
how did you find your first gynecologist? did your mother talk to you about it; did she take you to see hers?
I was the youngest of four girls in my family and would you believe I didn't have even one conversation with my mom or sisters about any of it until college.
do you feel comfortable to ask questions about your body, what you are experiencing, to discuss your sex-life?
I am generally very comfortable asking questions, but with my current gyn, I am not all that comfortable. Especially about sex.
how often do you see your gynecologist? what does a regular exam consist of?
Once a year. For a regular exam, I meet with the doc in her office to talk about any concerns, then to the stir-ups for a pap and breast exam. It's very basic, with not much talking.
would you recommend your gynecologist - why, or why not?
I would not. I tend to joke around a little to lighten the moment, but she doesn't seem to get it. I need a doctor with a sense of humor, especially if I am going to go through having a baby with that doctor.
what are all the factors that go into how you feel about your experience with your gyno?
does the reception and nursing staff play a role?
is there good reading material in the waiting room?
I want someone who is precise, without talking over my head or being judgemental. I also find that bedside manner is a major factor.
Yes, I think that the reception and nursing staff should be warm and welcoming.
No, the reading material sucked pretty bad.
is there something more you'd like to be getting from your gynecologist that you aren't?
I would say a big yes. I need a doctor that I can be myself around and not feel self-consious for any reason. I don't really feel that way with my current gyn. Yes, I was treated for genital warts. I was devistated when it happend (in college). I found out at a routine pap done at the campus health center. I then went to a private practice to have it treated. I had out-patient surgery, which I think was successful, since there hasn't been any more since they removed a few layers of my cervix. By the way, I was treated like gold by the doctor and the staff. (I don't live in that city any more). I need to find a new gyno!!!
