gynecologist
review response 03 |
how old are
you, and for how long have you been seeing your gynecologist?
|
|
18; been seeing my present gyno for about 2 years. saw my first
gyno at 15.
|
how did you
find your first gynecologist? did your mother talk to you about it; did
she take you to see hers?
|
|
my mom
and i looked through the yellow pages for a female gynecologist - there
weren't many. i ended up going to a terrible one, who, after finding
out i'd been abused, simply said "oh." then, "ok, lie
back on the table and put your feet up." She was very insensitive,
and a terrible first experience.
|
do you feel
comfortable to ask questions about your body, what you are experiencing,
to discuss your sex-life?
|
|
with my
present gynecologist, yes, definitely. she's wonderful. i have yet to
come out to her though.
|
how often
do you see your gynecologist? what does a regular exam consist of?
|
|
as wonderful
as she is, i see her as little as possible - about once a year now that
i'm off birth control. i actually went to her about 3 times before she
did a full pelvic exam on me (she was very sensitive to the fact that
i didn't particularly want one). now that she's done a pelvic exam, though,
the full pelvic/breast exam will probably be part of the yearly exam.
|
would you
recommend your gynecologist - why, or why not?
|
|
yes, definitely.
she's amazingly sensitive, and is very straightforward and frank about
everything.
|
what are
all the factors that go into how you feel about your experience with
your gyno?
does the reception and nursing staff play a role?
is there good reading material in the waiting room?
|
|
the fact
that she agreed to wait until i was ready for her to do a pelvic exam
(while informing me of its importance) is definitely one of the biggest
factors as to why i like her so much.
the reception and nursing staff
is pretty typical - nothing special there.
The office is actually geared more towards obstetrics and older women,
so the reading material isn't particularly interesting to me, as an 18-year-old.
|
is there something more
you'd like to be getting from your gynecologist that you aren't?
|
|
Not really;
she's pretty much everything I want in a gynecologist.
|
have you been treated
for a disease or disorder? what was it? was it easily diagnosed? what
treatment was prescribed, and was it successful?
|
|
My gynecologist herself
hasn't actually diagnosed me with anything, but the disorder that has
something to do with my gynecological visit is Post-Traumatic Stress
Disorder, which my psychiatrist treats.

this conversation makes
me think....

I wonder if guys have
any of the same issues regarding their genitals.... |
