gynecologist
review response 04 |
how old are
you, and for how long have you been seeing your gynecologist?
|
|
Im
28 and ive been seing my gyno for about 10 years
|
how did you
find your first gynecologist? did your mother talk to you about it; did
she take you to see hers?
|
|
I decided
to stop using condoms, i was moving with my boyfriend and i wanted to
have advise for oral contraceptives so i asked some friends for their
gynos recomendations and i choose this one. She is a great doctor and
i felt very comfortable since the begining
|
do you feel
comfortable to ask questions about your body, what you are experiencing,
to discuss your sex-life?
|
|
She is
very open but i still dont feel comfortable leting her know that i have
had an abortion (of course not performed by her). Im not sure she is
pro-choice even the only reason i have to doubt about her commitment
witn womens rights is that her secretary is very catholic.
|
how often
do you see your gynecologist? what does a regular exam consist of?
|
|
about once
a year and i normally have a pap test and breast checking. I am in a
monogamous relation so im not in a risk position to need to go more often.
|
would you
recommend your gynecologist - why, or why not?

|
what are
all the factors that go into how you feel about your experience with
your gyno?
does the reception and nursing staff play a role?
is there good reading material in the waiting room?
|
|
I dont
need to see a luxury place but a very clean one, as well as friendly
and i like to find a friendly staff there. I always bring my own books
to read but i like to find flyers about diferent medicines and other
heath issues information
|
is there something more
you'd like to be getting from your gynecologist that you aren't?
|
|
Well, i
dont like to see religious images in the desk of the recepcionist, but
i think that for expectant mothers it comforts them. It is just that
for me religious images akes me think in the conservative church that
objetivizes women.
|
have you been treated
for a disease or disorder? what was it? was it easily diagnosed? what
treatment was prescribed, and was it successful?
|
|
Yep, for some common
vaginal infections easily diagnosed and treated, as well as for one of
the non cancerigenous forms of papiloma virus diagnosed by a colposcopy
and succesfully treated, as well as for some minor endocrinologic disorders,
all those have been succesfully healed :)

this conversation makes
me think....
|
|
All women should have
a proper medical service and should have friendly and profesional doctors
to trust on. I think im lucky i can acced to those.
