review response 09 |
how old are
you, and for how long have you been seeing your gynecologist?
21, I have been seeig the same doctor for since I was 15.
how did you
find your first gynecologist? did your mother talk to you about it; did
she take you to see hers?
I was getting really bad cramps and having very heavy periods and spotting in my freshman year on high school.
My mom took me to a doctor she had heard good things about. The first time was wierd. I remember feeling very cold and open with my feet in the sturrps. The doctor had a mirror behind him and was showing be things as he examined me. It was like I was watching somebody else. He is a nice older man, like a grandfather, but here he was with his entire had in my vagina, asking if I felt pressure. Of course I felt pressure, I was a 15 year old virgin!. What made matters worse was that most of my friends wnet to the same office. I felt strange that the same man had touched my friends too.

do you feel
comfortable to ask questions about your body, what you are experiencing,
to discuss your sex-life?
The truth is not really. I have only had one sex partner, and we only had sex twice. Always with a condom.
When he was asked if I was still a virgin I said yes. I did not want him to know, even though I was 20 and in college.
how often
do you see your gynecologist? what does a regular exam consist of?
every year, the normal stuff, pap smear ect.
would you
recommend your gynecologist - why, or why not?
No, he is going to retire soon and does not take any more paitents. I will look for a woman next time.
what are
all the factors that go into how you feel about your experience with
your gyno?
does the reception and nursing staff play a role?
is there good reading material in the waiting room?
For me it is like all medical experences, rather negitive. I do not like doctors or hospitials.
is there something more
you'd like to be getting from your gynecologist that you aren't?
No.
have you been treated
for a disease or disorder? what was it? was it easily diagnosed? what
treatment was prescribed, and was it successful?
No, just told that the cramps would go away and they did.
this conversation makes
me think....
Watching a stranger touch me in an overhead mirror.
