menstruation questionnaire response 61 |
how old were you when you first got your period, what was it like, and what did you know about what to expect?
I was 13. It was picture day and I was extremely embarrassed. I did know what to expect, but it still surprised me.
how did you feel about it, and who did you tell about it?
I was very very embarrassed, I felt like everyone knew. My mom worked at my school at the time and she took me home early.
what menstrual product did you start with? how did you learn about it?
I have always used Always pads. My mom used them at the time.
are you still using the same method to deal with the blood; what methods have you tried; which do you prefer and why?
I still use Always, though now I use the thin maxipad with wings. I've tried tampons but I can't use them.
do you experience cramps, bloating, soar breasts, get pimples...? - if you do, tell us about it, and also, what remedies do you use?
All of the above. I generally don't do anything about it. The cramps are a new addition though, they just started in the past year and I have tried everything from ibuprofen to cramp bark tea (which is gross). I just discovered midol and though I generally shy away from medication, my cramps have gotten so severe I take it.
do you feel emotional changes relating to where you are in your menstrual cycle? |
I do get PMS, no matter what my psychology teachers say about it being purely psychological.
how do the men in your life relate to your period, or periods in general?
The only man in my life is my father and we don't really talk about it besides him getting pads and painkillers.
this conversation makes me think....
I have a lot to say about this. I'd never thought about talking about it.
