basic definition of "losing your virginity" seems to be having
sexual intercourse involving penetration. I think there are two types
of virginity, though: mental and physical. I believe there is a difference
between "having sex" and "making love." Personally,
I have had sex, but not yet made love.

how old were
you, and was this the age when expected or intended to lose your virginity?

I
was 18. It wasn't really the age that I didn't expect or intend so much
as the situation. When I was very young I decided that it would happen
with the right person when I was in love, regardless of what age I might
be. However, I was not in love when I lost my virginity. I don't regret
it though. I was safe and comfortable with someone I cared about who
cared about me.

what did
it feel like? was there blood? did your partner know it was your first
time and did you talk about it before?

It hurt
more than I ever expected. I always thought that the stories of pain
were an old wive's tale, but apparently not. I hurt in places that I
hadn't known existed before. It was really strange. Eventually we had
to stop. We continued having sex after that first time and with each
time there was less pain and more pleasure until it was all pleasure
and I was able to completely enjoy myself and come. I bled for about
two or three days after the first time. My partner didn't know it was
my first time until right before it happened. I kind of sprang it on
him, but he was a lot more experienced than me and I knew he wouldn't
have wanted to do it if I told him it would be my first time too far
in advance. He was really surprised I was a virgin since I'm generally
a pretty sensual girl. He was very careful and gentle and would ask if
I wanted to stop if I cried out at all. He made it a good experience
for me and I'm thankful for that.

your mother, family, friends tell you about losing your virginity...

My
family just gave me a lot of lectures about pregnancy and disease. When
my mom first suspected I was sexually active she used to cut out articles
on STDs from magazines and newspapers and leave them on my pillow at
night. Thanks, mom. ::Sigh::

your daughter about losing her virginity...

Be careful, wait until
you're ready, and no matter what always use two types of protection (ie:
birth control pills and condoms). Also, you can talk to me about it.
I promise I won't freak out on you.
