	what does "losing your virginity" mean to you? - define the term, and then tell us about what the experience signified for you...		Losing my virginity meant having sexual intercourse with a man. I hold all first times to be very important and very special, and this is definitely no exception.
	what were your expectations of what the experience would be like prior to losing your virginity?		I honestly was not sure what to expect, beyond my understanding of the basic anatomy and how the act itself worked. I thought it might be painful, or that I might not enjoy it at all. I wasn't sure if I could even be with a man, to be honest.
	how old were you, and was this the age when expected or intended to lose your virginity?		I was 19 years old, and I hadn't expected to lose my virginity for a very long time. In fact, before the encounter that led to the loss of my virginity, I hadn't even been on a date or held hands with a guy. My first everything occurred over the course of a couple of hours.
	what did it feel like? was there blood? did your partner know it was your first time and did you talk about it before?		My partner was well-aware of the fact that it was my first time. He was my best friend that I had met online. I had arranged to meet him when I traveled to visit a university that I was considering for a study abroad program. We had simply decided to be prepared for the possibility, and had talked some about the specifics. I told him I knew my first everything would be special with him, because he cared so much about me, and that's why I wanted to. It felt strange at first. We had a little difficulty getting it in. In fact, I panicked a little bit when I thought it might be in, but I couldn't feel it. However, once it started working, it was somewhat painful. I was also bumping my head into a chair behind me, which made it less pleasant. I noticed a little bit of blood after it was over, but nothing major. I didn't have an orgasm during any of it. Overall, it was a beautiful experience, though. It was definitely hard going home after that.
	what did your mother, family, friends tell you about losing your virginity...		I was told by a couple of friends to just let things happen and go with the flow. I was also told to relax and have fun. I tried to do all of the above.
	what would/did you tell your daughter about losing her virginity...		I would tell my daughter to wait until she felt the time was right to lose her virginity. It would also be better to be in a relationship at the time. I would also offer to provide her any literature she might want on the topic and to answer any questions.
	this conversation makes me think...		Even though it was imperfect and outside of a relationship, I wouldn't change anything (except maybe to have my trip be a few days longer than it was -- it went by entirely too quickly).
